TREGENZA, John - Australia's little magazines 1923-1954: their role in forming and reflecting literary trends
D/j has plastic cover.
The 'little' magazine is a characteristic product of the age of anxiety ushered in by the Great War 1914-1918. Writers everywhere felt a need for periodicals of their own, in which they could express their views without restriction, and experiment with new styles. During the thirty one years 1923-1954 there were published in Australia nearly fifty such magazines, few of which lasted for more than four numbers.
