POWYS, TF - Mr Tasker's Gods
First published by Chatto & Windus, 1925. The Mr Tasker of the title is a church-warden and a farmer who worships his pigs 'because they are the ogds that help him get on'. Although the novel is structured round the simplified two-dimensional character, the tale is a poignant allegory, with Mr Takser a symbol of the greed and aggression of man.
